The petition to Declare a Climate Emergency, started by our Green campaigner Clare Andrews, has now reached almost 3,000 signatures - enough to trigger Newcastle Council to debate it at Wednesday's council meeting. Join us ahead of the meeting to show support for urgently tackling climate change!

Green campaigner Taymar Pitman, who in January uncovered the council's failure to act on their 2010 climate pledges, told the Newcastle Chronicle “The council must put climate change at the heart of its decisions – it’s completely at odds to support road building while cutting already-planned facilities for safer walking and cycling, and felling trees and tarmacing over green space to build car-dependent housing"
