Tackling supermarket plastic

Making a point -Tay and a Green Party supporter from Elswick, outside Asda in Mill Lane yesterday morning, with plastic packaging to return to Asda. The store manager was very helpful and took the plastic, but they pointed out a lot more needs doing to reduce the use of plastic in the first place.

According to the supermarkets own data they currently use at least 59 billion pieces of plastic every year. As packaging plastic has a very short life span but can last for hundreds of years causing massive pollution. We need to tackle this mountain of plastic we use every day, sustainable alternatives must be found and used.
