Paul is UK Recycling Manager for SITA
He has extensive knowledge of the recycling industry having worked in the sector, at a senior level, in both Europe and North America. A former chairman of the ESA recycling and recovery committee Paul is currently on the UK recycling delegate for FEAD (The international Waste management Association). In 1999 Paul was seconded to the EU to work with the Commission looking at the barriers to Market Development and Standards for recyclable products and currently sits on SITA 's international technical committees for both solid waste and organic waste processing He also wrote the industry response to the introduction of Producer Responsibility in1998 and is a recognised speaker for the industry on recycling affairs.
Stephen attained a BSc (Hons) 1st in Environmental Management in 1995 from Cranfield University.
He attained his Engineering Doctorate (combined PhD and MBA) in 1999 from Cranfield University. The research looked at the sludge processing technology including composting and the effects of these processes on phosphorus levels and the subsequent environmental, agronomic and economic risks and benefits from applying the sludge to agricultural land.
Joined Organic Recycling in autumn of 1999 as their Technical Manager with responsibilities for improving the composting operation and establishing a quality research programme to help with the development and understanding of composting.
Joined SITA in January 2001 as the Composting Manager. Based in the Midlands with operational responsibility for this area, also to provide advice and assistance to the other regions where necessary.
John graduated from Leeds University with a BSc. in Fuel Science and an MSc. in Combustion. He has worked in the waste management industry in the UK and Australia for over 30 years and has had continuous involvement with thermal treatment and engineered disposal facilities, including the management of both hazardous and municipal waste incineration plants. He is currently Environment & Capital Projects Manager for SITA UK.
