Newcastle Green candidates for the 2017 General Election

Three candidates on the Millennium Bridge

Newcastle Green Party is proud to announce that once again we will be standing candidates in all three Newcastle upon Tyne constituencies. On 8th June, everyone in Newcastle will be able to vote for a big, bright and bold vision for the future.

Alison Whalley, a former welfare rights worker, for Newcastle upon Tyne North

Peter Thomson, active in Newcastle politics for over 35 years, for Newcastle upon Tyne Central

Alistair Ford, a scientist working at Newcastle University, for Newcastle upon Tyne East.

Working together for a sustainable Newcastle

Our campaign was launched on Tuesday 9th May, on a much used footbridge over the Central Motorway. While air pollution is killing 40,000 people every year in the UK, the government has had to be dragged through the courts to release its air quality plan. Meanwhile, Labour controlled Newcastle City Council is committed to a massive programme of £multi-million highway upgrades to build its way out of worsening traffic congestion.

Can you help Newcastle Greens at this election?

Democracy may be our inalienable right as citizens, but it doesn’t come cheap. We have had to pay £1,500 as 'deposits' just to get our candidates onto the ballot paper, and all our leaflets, posters etc are an extra cost. Please visit and share our crowdfunder page to help replenish our funds.

Just like our fundraising, our campaigning depends on large numbers of our supporters working together. Could you display a Vote Green window poster, help deliver leaflets or staff a stall in our target areas? Please fill out the online volunteering form, and we will be in touch with you. Please also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

That is what the Green Party is about: working together, standing together, and changing the world together.

So please, stand with us.
